Ability Enhancement Compulsory Course Human Values And Ethics(02 CREDITS)

B.A./B.COM. – I SEMESTER – B.Sc. - II SEMESTER

UNIT – I Definition, Nature and Scope of Ethics; Concept, Definition and Nature of Values; Religious, Cultural and Constitutional Values (Fundamental Duties and Rights, Directive Principles)

UNIT – IIFamily Values – Role of Family in Character Development; Structure and Functions of Family – Changes and Emerging Trends

UNIT – IIILife Skills – The Need for Life Skills during Teenage; Life Skills Perspective; Coping with Life Stresses; Suicidal Tendencies and Peer Pressure

UNIT – IVEnvironmental Ethics; Professional Ethics (Media, Medical, Public Sector, Business, Legal Ethics, Engineering)

Course Outcomes

UGC policy document clearly states that there is now a growing demand to lay greater emphasis on education to inculcate, nurture and develop values, particularly among the youth of the country.

As per the UGC guidelines Nizam College introduced CBCS in 2015. It facilitated initiation of AECC Human values and Ethics in 2015. The Department of Sociology offers this course. For B.A. and B.Com.students it is offered in Semester I and for B.Sc. it is offered in Semester II. The course has two credits. There are total four units emphasizing on the following course outcomes:

CO1: Ability to define Ethics and Values in a practical social context

CO2: Explain nature and scope of Values and ethics

CO3: Appreciate the religious values and constitutional values especially Fundamental Rights, Fundamental Duties and Directive Principles

CO4: Understand Family Values and Role of Family in Character Development;

CO5: Describe changes and emerging trends in Family

CO6: Acquire Life Skills especially coping with Life Stresses;

CO7: Identifying Suicidal Tendencies and Peer Pressure

CO8: Explaining Environmental Ethics and Professional Ethics (Media, Medical, Public Sector, Business, Legal Ethics, Engineering)
