Department of Business Management


Established in 2007 to commemorate 120 years of academic excellence, the Department of Business Management is a beacon of professionalism, admitting 60 students annually through the Integrated Common Entrance Test. Accredited by Osmania University, the department offers a comprehensive curriculum covering Marketing, Finance, and Human Resource Management. Beyond traditional teaching methods, tutorial classes and multimedia resources enhance learning.

Integral to the program is a project internship, providing real-world exposure. The department boasts a well-equipped reading room and publishes the bi-annual newsletter "Samvidha." Flagship events like Samvidha and Abhijay foster community engagement.

The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program, initiated in 2013, emphasizes evolving industry demands. Core subjects include Finance, HR, and Marketing, supplemented by non-credit courses on ethics and environmental awareness. The Business Activity Support Hub (BASH) facilitates practical learning through exhibitions and industry talks.

The BBA in Retail Operations, a three-year apprenticeship program, blends academic rigor with on-the-job training. Developed in collaboration with RASCI, it prepares students for supervisory roles in the retail sector.

The BA Marketing program, established in 1996 and merged with the department in 2023, equips students with skills in advertising, sales management, and multimedia. The department's strengths lie in its student-centered approach, industry collaborations, and emphasis on experiential learning through internships and outreach programs.

Dr. B.Madhavi,MBA, Ph.D, NET
Assistant professor (C) & Incharge HoD

Dr. B. Madhavi, an accomplished Assistant Professor with an extensive academic background, holds MBA, NET, and a Ph.D. in Management from the University of Hyderabad. With a remarkable 20-year tenure, she currently serves as Head, Department of Business Management at Nizam College, Osmania University. Dr. Madhavi has held significant roles such as Coordinator of the Literary and Cultural Club, Member of the Core Committee on NAAC, Member of Energy Conservation club and Member Women Empowerment Cell. She founded and coordinated Diploma in HRM principles and practices, played a pivotal role in the Election Commission of India's SVEEP project, and organized International Conference on the Digital Economy. Additionally, her publications in esteemed journals and awards showcase her expertise in Retailing and Sustainable HRD practices, flexible work practices, ESG, Rural Branding, Women Financial Literacy etc. Dr. Madhavi is a lifetime member of ISTD and holds certifications in HR Analytics, Creative thinking, and Knowledge Management. She is an active panel member in media programs and is a consultant for trainers. Her collaborations with Menternship India and NIMSME reflect her commitment to student development, and she has been a sought-after guest speaker, judge, and resource person on topics spanning Digital Transformation, Women Empowerment, Leadership Development, Diversity, and more.

Mrs. A. Lakshmi

Mrs. A. Lakshmi works as Assistant professor c in Department of Business Management at Nizam college. She completed (Marketing), M.Phil, MBA, PGDCA, (PhD). Her specialisation is Marketing Management. Her areas of interests and expertise include Entrepreneurship development, Management of sales forces, Service Marketing, Advertising Management and so on. She teaches both Undergraduate and Postgraduate students in Nizam colleges apart from the various add-on courses which are offered by the Department of Marketing. She held various administrative posts in the college which includes as the Head of Department of Marketing from the year 2008 to 2018.She attended several international and national conferences which included “Business Education and its Future - A Global perspective”- StartUps in India for the period and “Innovation in commerce and science. She attended an orientation programme for faculty on Massive open online courses which was organised by Osmania university. She was invited to train new entrant lecturers on 27 & 28 september 2014 organised by Vijayanagar colony, Hyderabad in Association with Indian Accounting Association, Hyderabad chapter Sponsored by SRC of ICSSR .She has participated a National seminar on "Commodity markets & risk management" conducted by Bhavans Vivekananda college of science humanities and commerce, sainikpuri, secunderabad. In Association with Indian Accounting Association, Hyderabad chapter. she has participated in a "World wide web and social networking for beginners from 1-12-2014 to 6-12-2014.She has presented a paper at Government degree college, Khairatabad at national symposium on "Rural Industrialization" with special reference to micro, small and medium enterprises sector in the growth of Indian economy .She has participated 20th &21st Feb2015,two days National seminar was organised by Department of Economics and presented a paper on "Participation of women Inclusive department" Till today. She has 10 national publication and 3 International publication and modulated book which is used a course for national certificate module. She also participated in international webinar on UK HIGHER EDUCATION AND CAREER OPPORTUNITIES POST BREXIT & COVID 19 PANDEMIC held on 2Oth August 2020 organised by the department of commerce in collaboration with UK Academic consultancy. She undertook the various activities such as curriculum development, innovative teaching methods and editor of college handbooks. She is the member of NAAC steering committee for Undergraduate admissions. She was also the coordinator for a self-defence programme which teaches Martials arts to girl students to protect themselves. She worked as coordinator of the women empowerment cell which empowers the girl students in the campus by actively organising events for them. She presently serves as an IQAC core member. She is also in charge of IV Criteria -Infrastructure and Learning Resources .

A.Swathi is Assistant Professor (c ) Her Qualifications MBA,MCA . She teaches UG course and also handled Multimedia course Classes . Ms. N. Pravalika is an Assistant Professor, Department of Business of Management. She has been working at Nizam college. since September 2013 till date and she has 11 years of teaching experience. She has completed her master in Business administration and master in commerce from Osmania University with distinction. Her area of interest are Human resource and finance. She has been teaching general management subjects, finance, and human resource to the students of BBA and MBA. She has published articles in the national and international, journals and attended conferences, seminars, workshops in the national and international level. She has participated paper presentation in conference & seminars. She has contributed in framing syllabus of BBA for the year 2014_ 2015.academic. Administrator for Diploma in retail management. She has been transmitted a guest lecture for students in managerial economics. Concept on Derivates the academic year 2015 – 2016. She has organized conferences, workshops, seminars, industrial exposure to the students. Has served as mentor as external project viva, UG Dept of commerce. She has transacted responsibility as member of the NAAC committee as well criterion member of the NAAC committee. She has also served the responsibility as the member of culture & literacy club. HEENA KAUSER: Pursuing  Ph.D from ICFAI University,  MBA From St joseph’s Degree n P.G College-Osmania University and my internship in 2015 in IOB Bank, BSc’s  From Nizam College.
