Established in 1887 by the amalgamation of Hyderabad School and the Madarsa-i-Aliya, Nizam College is one of the oldest and most esteemed institutions of higher education in South India. It was affiliated to the University of Madras for 60 years after its inception, and was made a Constituent College of Osmania University on 19th February 1947.
Nizam College offers both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the Faculties of Arts, Social Sciences, Commerce and Sciences in addition to professional courses such as MBA, MCA, M.Sc.(IS) and BCA. Several of our students are also pursuing doctoral and postdoctoral research. The college received the status of the College with Potential for Excellence both under the X Plan and the XI Plan period. The College is accredited by NAAC in March 2019 with 'B++' grade with a CGPA of 2.92.
The Placement Centre organises on-campus recruitments involving industries and MNC's like Wipro, Infosys, Cognizant, Satyam, Nipuna, GE, etc. totaling to more than 25 to 50 reputed companies visit the college every year. Students come from a wide range of social status and different regions which creates a healthy atmosphere and an ambience of a global community with rich cultural exchange. Nizam College is foremost in the preference of students from various Asian and African countries. Foreign students constitute 25% of the total strength of the college.
NSS ACTIVITIES REPORT UNIT-III,(1st April 2023 to 31st January 2024)
The National Service Scheme of our college has started its activities soon after completion of admissions. The college has three NSS Units, Unit-I and Unit-II for boys and Unit III for girls. Dr.CH.Venkateshwarlu, Dr.Sudharshan and Dr.A.Manjula are the Programme Officers for the unit I, II and III respectively. All the units enrolled 100 Volunteers each for the current academic year. NSS Volunteers participated actively in all the regular programmes organized by the unit. National important days and rallies have been celebrated/conducted by our units. Volunteers participated in these activities and made them successful.
GREEN AUDIT BY IQAC OSMANIA UNIVERSITY (08.03.2023)
NSS Volunteers of Unit –III of our college actively participated in One-Day Training Programme conducted by IQAC Department, Osmania University on 08-03-2023. They were given training followed by field work om green audit on 10 and 11 of march. 20 volunteers participated in this programme.
INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY CELEBRATION (21.06.2023)
The NSS Units of Nizam College on the occasion of “International Yoga Day Celebrations” conducted Yoga programme. The Principal of the college Prof.Bhima,,Vice Principal Dr.Upender Reddy, NSS Programme officer Dr.A.Manjula, Dr.Sudarshanand and Dr.Venkateshwarlu participated in the programme. NSS Volunteers actively participated and practiced Yoga.
SWATCH BHARATH PROGRAMME (14.08.2023)
Nizam College, NSS Volunteers participated in Swatch Bharath Programme at 2p.m. in the College premises on the eve of Independence Day Celebrations around 30 students from Unit-III participated in the programme.
ANTI-RAGGING AND ANTI DRUG AWARENESS PROGRAMME (09.10.23)
NSS unit of Nizam College organised an Anti-Ragging and Anti-Drug awareness rally on 09.10.202 at 11 a.m. Around 100 students, along with principal, NSS Programme Officers and other teaching and non-teaching staff participated in the rally. The programme began with address by principal of the college Prof.Bhima, Sir spoke about the consequences of ragging and drug consumption followed by the address three NSS Programme Officers. The rally begin from principal office went around the Campus then went out from Gate-2 to Gate-1 and ended at principal office.
ELECTORAL LITERACY PROGRAMME (10.10.2023)
IQAC, Nizam College in collaboration with Electoral Literacy Club Organised Electoral Literacy Programme on 10-10-2023 at 11am. NSS Volunteers of Unit –III participated in this programe.
BREAST CANCER AWARENESS CAMPAIGN AND WALK (13-10-2023)
NSS volunteers of Unit –III actively participated in the Breast Cancer Awareness Walk on 13th October 2023, at 9a.m from Lumbini park to Ravindra Bharati organized by MNJ Institute of Oncology, Hyderabad.
RASTRIYA EKTA DIWAS (31.10.22)
NSS UNIT Nizam College Celebrated Rastriya Ekta Diwas on 31.10.2023 at 12 p.m The programme began with address by Prof.B.Bhima, Principal spoke about the importance of celebrating Rastriya Ekta Diwas followed by the pledge by students along with NSS Programme Officers. Then address by Dr.Venkateshwarlu who spoke about the achievements of Sardhar Vallabai Patel in making our country United. The programme ended with a rally by NSS Officers and Volunteers from Gate-2 to Gate-1.Total 58 Volunteers from three units, teaching and non-teaching staff participated in the programme.
ELECTION DUTY TRAINING (21-11-2023)
T.Srikanth, Special Officer, Telangana Assembly Elections, visited our college to interact with NSS Volunteers who are attending election duty. Sir briefed about the work to be done by the volunteers on Election Day. Total 52 students were present along with NSS Programme Oficer Unit –III.
ELECTION DUTY (30-11-2023)
Total 52 volunteers from NSS Unit-III attended Election Duty from morning 8 a.m to evening 5 p.m these students were given Certificates.
AWARENESS WALK ON BREAST CANCER (12-01-2024)
NSS volunteers of Unit –III actively participated in the Awareness Walk on MYBHARATH & ROAD SAFETY at Raj Bhavan on the occasion of 161st birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda on 12th January. 21 girls participated in the programme.
NATIONAL VOTERS AWARENESS DAY (25.01.2024)
NSS unit of Nizam College organised a Voter’s Awareness programme on 25.01.2024 at 1 p.m. Around 40 students, along with principal, NSS Programme Officers and other teaching and non-teaching staff participated in the rally. The programme began with address by principal of the college Prof.Bhima, Sir spoke about the importance casting vote followed by Pledge by students along with Vice Principal Dr. Upender Reddy.
