About the Divyajan

Established in 1887, Nizam College has decades of glory in the field of higher education and research both at the national and international level. The college has always been attracting and accommodating students from all sections of the society and is no different with respect to divyangjan. Nizam College established Cell for the Differently Abled in 2013 to address all the issues pertaining to students with disabilities and to initiate various activities for overall development of divyangjan students.

Aim To strive for overall development of the students who are differently abled through inclusive education, accessible infrastructure and equity in higher education.

MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING

Cell for the Differently Abled, Nizam College has Memorandum of Understanding with IIIT, Hyderabad. IIIT, Hyderabad helps the differently abled students by converting text books into e-text books or audio text material, which enables the visually challenged students in learning process.

FACILITIES AND SUPPORT

Initiation to gather e-text books or audio material (From LV Prasad Eye Institute & Samrutha Trust, Hyderabad).
Exemption from payment of exam fees
Thirty minute extra time for visually challenged students in examination
Providing the scribe for the visually challenged students in exams (the controller of examination or superintendent should satisfy himself of total blindness of the candidate)
Reader charges are provided for the visually challenged students
I-pods are provided to all the differently abled students pursuing Master degree (by Osmania University)
Hostel rooms are provided or allocated on the ground floor for the differently abled students
Room allotment ensures that wash rooms are near by the rooms
